ACC also helps couples who also want to try to save their relationship or marriage and find ways to express themselves and be heard without fear or intimidation. Mediation is when communication has broken down and both parties are struggling to interact peacefully and child/ren have witnessed negative emotions and behaviours which is impacting on them.
The sessions are weekly and typically last one hour per week over 10 weeks. The sessions are structured and led by a professional therapist or counsellor. The therapist and counsellor act impartially and without judgement.
They will help both parties by carefully allowing each to express themselves fully and identify their own key issues and concerns as well as identify future goals and find common grounds towards healthier co-parenting. The ACC is also more cost effective than going through family mediation as part of a court requirement.
